Tulsa, Okla., police officer charged in man’s death

Trump was introduced by boxing promoter Don King, who accidentally dropped the N-word while speaking. “That man went to the auto, hands up, put his hand on the vehicle”.

King, who is black, continued: “If you’re a dancing and sliding and gliding n— I mean Negro – you are ‘a dancing and sliding and gliding Negro.'” Gasps and laughs could be heard from the audience.

In recent weeks, Mr. Trump has been trying to fix his standing among minority voters. Trump’s outreach has also been viewed cynically as an attempt by his campaign to soothe concerns among more moderate, suburban voters. He said he had been “reasonably assured” of the outcome during conversations with police nearly six weeks ago.

Trump said 40-year-old Terence Crutcher, who was killed in Friday’s Tulsa, Oklahoma, shooting, “looked like he did everything you’re supposed to do”. Black men deserve to be given the same benefit of “goodness” as their white counterparts.

“I knew there was always a possibility he was going to be deployed sometime”, Betty Shelby said at the rally. Her comments – which came at the beginning of a lengthy speech about improving economic opportunities for disabled Americans – marked her first on-camera remarks on the shootings, which have again sparked a debate about lethal police force.

“I appreciate their efforts as well as the District Attorney’s usual thorough evaluation of the rules of law for which we are all accountable”, Bartlett said in a written statement.

Clinton notably made no direct mention of Trump in a speech in Orlando, Florida, focused on helping people with disabilities thrive in the US economy.

Wood said “it’s important to remember” that Shelby was on the scene with Crutcher for about a minute and a half before the start of the video clip released by police on Monday. “It’s unbearable. And it needs to become intolerable”. The group includes the mothers of Eric Garner, Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown, black victims of high-profile killings. Officers can not continue to kill and not be held accountable.

Trump said he saw a video circulated widely online that showed multiple officers with their weapons trained on the man, Terence Crutcher, who was outside his vehicle during a traffic stop.

Video released by police showed Crutcher walking away from Shelby with his hands in the air.

He also hashtagged the name Terence Crutcher, whose fatal shooting by the officer Friday was captured on video made public this week. I think I’m right in what I did. Crutcher is left lying on the pavement.

Trump’s meeting came after street demonstrations continued into the early hours of Wednesday in Charlotte, North Carolina. No body camera footage exists, because Tulsa police have not equipped officers with the devices, despite receiving a federal grant to do so past year.

According to police Chief Kerr Putney, Scott “posed an imminent deadly threat” to officers. “I got a subject who won’t show me his hands”, but nothing captures what went on between Shelby and Crutcher prior to other officers showing up. We need to pray for wisdom and guidance on each of our respective paths in life.

There is no doubt in my mind racism exists in this country, but not every negative interaction between people of different races should automatically be attributed to racism, since the majority of them are likely not caused by racism.

Clinton, meanwhile, has aimed to make a more proactive case for her election and not get drawn into daily skirmishes with Trump. She is now in the final year of pursuing her J.D.at The Michael E. Moritz College of Law at Ohio State University.

While she steered clear of Trump – with the exception of her campaign mantra, “Love trumps hate”, – the topic was an implicit poke at Trump’s much-publicized mocking of a disabled journalist during a rally previous year.
