Turbulence forces emergency landing in Rapid City, injures 24

Flight 429, flying from Boston to Sacramento, was diverted due to turbulence, JetBlue said in a statement.

A JetBlue flight from Boston to Sacramento hit severe turbulence Thursday evening, causing injuries to 22 passengers and two crew members and forcing the Airbus 320 aircraft to land in Rapid City, South Dakota.

The Jet Blue landed safely in South Dakota at around 7:30 p.m. central, or 5:30 p.m. No other details about injuries was available.

The injured passengers and crew were sent to the hospital for evaluation, while the remaining passengers and personnel will continue their journey on a replacement plane.

Passengers who weren’t injured were awaiting another flight that was set to arrive in Sacramento at around 4 a.m.
