A White House statement following the talk said the two leaders agreed to increase efforts to “stem the flow of foreign fighters and secure Turkey’s border with Syria”.

Asked by reporters if the New Syrian Forces would fight only Daesh, spokesman Mark Toner said they would, and ruled active combat against the Nusra Front.

“That deepening relationship between the United States and a Syrian Kurdish group that ultimately aims at creating an autonomous region in Syria really scared Turkey“, said Henri Barkey, director of the Middle East programme at the Woodrow Wilson worldwide Centre for Scholars.

Turkey on Wednesday announced that it was ready to begin a “comprehensive” fight against Islamic State (IS) militants in Syria alongside the United States, after a months of staying on the sidelines of the US-led coalition.

Turkish warplanes have also conducted attacks against targets of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in northern Iraq.

The U.S. has quietly warned Syria that it will repel any attack on the forces gathering for the assault on the Islamic State. “Whoever carries weapons against the state is a terrorist”, he was quoted as saying during a visit to ally Iran, adding Damascus had been informed about the presence of the U.S.-trained rebels.

“Turkey has the right to prevent and react to any form of terrorism, which must be unequivocally condemned”.

Near the end of the video, the militants execute two captives, who they claim were members of Syria’s military.

On Tuesday, the Arab League condemned Turkey’s actions and called on Ankara to recognise the sovereignty of Iraq.

The crusade forces train these “moderate” forces of course.

But those rebels have faced dramatic early setbacks: some are believed to have been captured by al Qaeda’s Syria wing, Nusra Front, and one is believed to have been killed last week.

This stealth was castigated by Council of Foreign Relations analyst Micah Zenko, in an August. 3 blog posting shortly after the news first broke that Obama had decided to authorize air strikes to defend the U.S.-trained rebels from any and all attackers including, should that situation arise, Assad’s forces.

The Turkish genuine said the most recent “comprehensive struggle” doesn’t mean an evolution from struggling PKK to effectively Islamic State. The more ruthless the jihadis are with Division 30, the stronger the message will be sent to future American recruits that they’re marked for death on all sides once they reach the battlefield.
