Erdogan’s spokesman, Ibrahim Kalin, said Turkey and Russian Federation – who are backing opposing sides in Syria – set up committees to discuss the war torn countries and the first sessions are to take place this week.
“Whether or not the anti-Americanism in Turkey will continue is also dependant on this”, Yildirim said.
According to CBC News, foreign affairs analyst Tony Brenton said that the West should not be surprised with the steps taken by the two countries as global relations remain to be “a pretty pragmatic business”. However, he is accused of being a follower of the exiled preacher Fethullah Gulen who is accused by the Turkish government of being behind the July 15 attempted coup.

He repeated, however, Turkey’s demand that the USA extradite Gulen.
Cavusoglu said Turkey had sent documents to the United States and had received positive signals about the case, without giving any details. That has chilled relations with Washington and the European Union, bringing repeated Turkish warnings about an EU deal to stem the flow of migrants.
A group of Turkish citizens on Thursday held a solidarity march for President Recep Erdogan. Erdogan went on to say that the USA was “in a position to make a choice” over the issue, Anadolu reported.
The state-run Anadolu Agency said an arrest warrant was issued for Sukur late Thursday, accusing him of “membership in an armed terror organization”.
