Turkey’s Air Forces ex head confesses to organizing coup – CNN Turk
Officials have blamed the unrest, which killed at least 232 people and wounded 1,400, on the US-based Muslim cleric Fethullah Gulen and the “parallel structure” they say he has formed to topple the government.

In his statement to prosecutors, Akin denied that he had been the ringleader of the coup. Early Monday, special Istanbul anti-terror police units raided the prestigious air force military academy, detaining four suspects, the state-run Anadolu news agency reported.
A total of 103 generals and admirals across Turkey have been detained for questioning over the Friday’s failed coup attempt, as the crackdown on coup suspects continues on Monday.
The generals gave essential orders to Turkish Air and Land Forces to take the necessary measures to block the whole coup attempt.
The interior ministry also reportedly dismissed nearly 9,000 police officers on Monday, as part of a purge of officials suspected of involvement, BBC added.
Anadolu said 41 of the detained military brass had been jailed pending trial.
It said that the FETÖ extremists in the Turkish military had also forced the chief of general staff to sign the coup statement and read it to the media.
President Erdogan has urged citizens to remain on the streets even after the defeat of the coup, in what the authorities describe as a vigil for democracy.
Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said over 7,500 people have been detained, including almost 100 generals and admirals.

Public servants’ annual leave has meanwhile been cancelled until further notice. “No country can become an European Union state if it introduces the death penalty”. Gulen has denied any involvement and suggested the coup may have been staged itself.
