“Acting in violation of worldwide norms preventing a collision of ships at sea and commonly accepted norms of navigation, a Turkish vessel did not give way to the convoy”, the Crimea-based company said.

“It will not take place”.

However, speaking to Turkey’s Dogan news agency, the owner of the fishing boat said no shots were fired and accused Russian Federation of lying.

“Russia’s Smetliviy patrol boat, which was anchored, issued visual warnings and tried without success to reach the Turkish ship by radio when it came within 1,000 meters, the Defense Ministry in Moscow said Sunday in a statement”.

The incident happened on Sunday (Dec. 13).

Russian President Vladimir Putin called the incident a “stab in the back” and imposed economic sanctions against Ankara as a retaliatory measure. “We are not in favor of tensions. We want to overcome tensions through dialogue”, Cavusoglu said.

Earlier this month, Turkey complained to Russia after a Russian sailor was allegedly photographed holding a rocket launcher as his ship passed through Istanbul.

Ankara claims the Russian Sukhoi fighter jet shot down by Turkish F-16s on 24 November had strayed briefly into Turkish airspace while bombing a group of Turkmen rebels in northern Syria – ethnic kin to the Turks, whom Ankara has supported. Putin ordered his armed forces on Friday “to shoot down” immediately any target that threatens the Russian forces or infrastructure in Syria in a clear reference to the Turkish forces.

Turkey’s foreign minister also had some harsh words for Russian Federation, stating that Ankara’s patience with Russian Federation “has a limit” after Moscow’s “exaggerated reaction to a weekend naval incident between the two countries, an Italian newspaper reported”.
