Turkey summons Russian envoy over airspace violation
Despite claiming that it issued warnings in both Russian and English, Ankara said that a Russian SU-34 was found encroaching over the south-eastern province of Gaziantep for around 20 seconds.

“We are emphasizing once again that the unwanted consequences of such irresponsible behavior will belong fully to the Russian Federation”, it added.
A Russian envoy has been summoned to condemn the violation after the incident which allegedly happened yesterday.
There was no immediate comment on the incident from Moscow.

Of the two pilots aboard the warplane, one was rescued with the help of the Syrian army, but the other was wounded by militant fire while he was parachuting down and was killed on the ground.

Following the downing, Moscow introduced multiple sanctions against Ankara, banning agricultural trade with Turkey, reintroducing a visa regime and suspending most bilateral economic projects, including the Turkish Stream gas pipeline construction project.
