The plane was forced to land at Halifax Airport in Canada and officials have announced that all on board are safe and well.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Nova Scotia would not comment on the details of the bomb threat and said was looking to identify the person or persons responsible.

“Investigation into bomb threat is in its early stages”, the police force tweeted, adding that the threat was received at 10:50 p.m. on Saturday evening.

Last week, two Air France flights bound for Paris from the USA were diverted because of anonymous threats phoned in after they had taken off.

No explosives were found aboard the planes, US and Canadian media said. Flight tracking sites show the plane had already taken off from John F Kennedy worldwide Airport in NY by then.

The incidents come at a time when Europe is on all time high security alert following the Paris terror attacks in which almost 130 people were killed and over 200 injured.
