A spokesman for Turkey’s Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, Mehmet Ali Berber told RIA Novosti: “Gazprom CEO [Alexei Miller] met one on one with our minister [Berat Albayrak]”. Alexei Miller’s visit to Turkey and his meeting with his vis-a-vis are scheduled for tomorrow.
Following the rapprochement between Ankara and Moscow, Russian tourists are returning to Turkey.
Turkish Culture and Tourism Minister Nabi Avci said at the forum that Turkey was ready to do all the work necessary to take bilateral relations with Russian Federation to highest levels. “He commented: “[The talks] are actually under way.
The minister is scheduled to meet Russian energy minister in October in Istanbul, where there will also be a major business forum within the scope of the Turkey-Russia Joint Economic Commission meeting. “They agreed on the resumption of the project”.
Gazprom indicates that the gas pipeline will pass along the old 660 km corridor of the “South Stream” and 250 km in a new corridor in direction to the European part of Turkey. The South Stream project was scrapped because under European Union competition law, Gazprom would have had to distribute its ownership of the project and let rival firms use the pipe.
