Turkish president accuses Europe of ‘dictatorship, ‘cruelty’
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday said he wanted the European Union to grant Turks visa-free travel to the passport-free Schengen area by October at the latest.

Addressing European countries, Erdogan said: “We’ll go our way, you go yours”.
As part of an agreement in which Turkey will help halt the flood of migrants and refugees from the Middle East, the European Union asked the nations in the bloc to allow Turkish citizens to travel to Europe without visas on short stays.
In many issues Davutoglu has proven he does not share the opinion of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Erdogan still faces a hard path to securing the constitutional change he wants to replace Turkey’s parliamentary democracy with a Turkish version of the USA or French system, where the elected head of state holds executive power.
In fact, Washington made it clear that the Turkish Prime Minister is much more welcome in the U.S. than the Turkish President, Melnikova said.
In Washington, White House spokesman Josh Earnest praised Davutoglu as a “good partner” for the USA who had demonstrated leadership, but said the US didn’t anticipate that his resignation would affect the countries’ ability to work together.
“Everyone is looking forward to see how Israel can export to Turkey, and through Turkey to the West, natural gas”, he said. Trying to answer the question, this analysis focuses on Erdogan’s political conflicts and personal differences with Davutoglu, as at the same time Erdogan’s political personality and behavior in dealing with his intra-party rivals would be subject of a concentration.
“So far, Turkey has rescued almost 110,000 migrants attempting the sea crossing from Turkey to the Greek island”, Erdogan said in his speech at a judicial congress in Istanbul.
Erdogan has been aggressive in moving to consolidate the country’s political power in the presidency, taking control of several major government posts by appointments of allies and AKP members alongside legal maneuvering. By being able to essentially appoint a new Prime Minister, the President will effectively have control over another central office in the government.
Erdogan has been emboldened by more than a decade of electoral victories and a long period of economic growth.
Germany said it expects Turkey to uphold the deal, which was pushed by Chancellor Angela Merkel and which she hopes will shore up support for her conservatives ahead of a federal election next year.

Less than a week before Davutoglu announced he was stepping down, the AKP stripped him of the authority to appoint its provincial officials in a move that cut his links to grass roots supporters and consolidated Erdogan’s influence.
