Turkish President threatens to resign over ISIS oil trade claims
Putin made the accusation on the sidelines of a United Nations climate summit in the French capital, Paris, where Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan also said he was willing to resign if the allegations were proven.

“At the moment we have received additional information confirming that that oil from the deposits controlled by Islamic State militants enters Turkish territory on industrial scale”, Putin said.
“We have every reason to think that the decision to shoot down our plane was dictated by the desire to protect the oil supply lines to Turkish territory”, said Mr Putin.
“It is obvious where we legally buy oil and natural gas from”, Erdogan said, as reported by Turkey’s Anadolu news agency.
Russian Federation announced its Su-34 fighter bombers operating in Syria are now carrying air-to-air missiles for self-defense, while Turkey’s air force has stepped up patrols along the Syrian border.
It’s unlikely that Russian Federation will drop its support for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad any time soon, President Obama conceded Tuesday.
The only path forward Obama said he saw is pressure from the US and other countries to create a ceasefire in Syria.
Russia’s imports from Turkey were $3.1 billion in January-September 2015, with Ankara’s turnover of goods with Moscow equalling $18.1 billion (4.6 percent) of all Russian trade. This coalition campaign is being led by America, but Obama warned that getting President Vladimir Putin’s cooperation fully is likely not going to happen, and that expectations for Russian full cooperation could be kept minimal.
U.S. President Barack Obama urged Turkey and Russian Federation on Tuesday to set aside tensions and focus on the common priority of defeating the Islamic State group.
Mr Obama and Mr Erdogan are among 150 leaders attending climate talks in Paris.
“We must support our ally Turkey”, he said.
“It is our obligation…from whatever direction threats should come, we have to take it jointly and with solidarity”, he said.
The United States and its allies are also working to disrupt terror plots and to promote a political solution in Syria, he added. “We know that where the Turkomans are present, there’s no Daesh presence or ISIS presence”, he said.
The NATO chief also reiterated his call for Turkey and Russian Federation to calm the crisis and to find ways to ensure there is no repeat.
Observing that the Russians have been involved in Syria for “several weeks, over a month”, the president said the situation on the ground there “hasn’t changed significantly”.

He was speaking at the start of a two-day North Atlantic Treaty Organisation foreign ministers meeting which will review measures adopted by the alliance after the Ukraine crisis to upgrade readiness levels and reassure nervous eastern Europe members who were once ruled from Moscow that the alliance will stand by them.
