Turn your clocks back
Wyoming Valley residents will have to wind analog clocks back an hour from Daylight Saving Time to Standard Time on Sunday. Making a point to do that when Daylight Saving Time rolls around might help you to remember. We respond to almost 70,000 other disasters every year, from home fires to wildfires and more. Later that night, just be sure to get to bed at least an hour earlier than the clock says, so you don’t fall deeper into sleep deficit.

He notes that a typical person should be able to adjust to the new time change within a day or two. “We urge people to take these steps now and know what they should do if an emergency occurs”.
The time change means it will be darker in the evenings and lighter in the mornings as we head toward the shortest day of the year. Members of Congress have claimed daylight saving time reduces energy consumption, but research doesn’t agree. “Use the extra hour we gain this weekend to make sure your home and family are fire-safe”.
Get an extra hour of sleep this weekend when you “fall back” for daylight saving time, but keep your peace of mind all year long by changing the batteries in your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors.
In 1966, President Lyndon Johnson signed an act into law whereby Daylight Saving Time begins on the last Sunday of April and ends on the last Sunday of October each year.
There are plenty of downsides to switching to and from daylight saving time: more traffic injuries, workplace injuries and heart attacks in the days following the change.
At historic Central High in Duluth, the end of daylight saving time and the return to standard time isn’t a big hassle. “I’m used to the time I wake up to normally so the change didn’t really change that since my phone was automatically set”.
Exceptions in the United States: In the United States, Hawaii and most of Arizona do not follow DLS.
In its “Myths and Truths” article about Daylight Saving Time, CNN notes that it was originally introduced after the First World War, with one of the supposed reasons for doing it being that Americans would use less energy by extending summer daylight later into the evening.
And while you’re changing the clocks anyway, the Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management recommends installing new batteries in their smoke alarms at the same time.
