Turnbull sworn in as Australia’s new prime minister
Multi-millionaire former banker Malcolm Turnbull was sworn in on Tuesday as Australia’s fourth prime minister in just over two years, promising to create a dynamic new economy and end the divisive approach of his predecessor.

The poll revealed Mr Turnbull comfortably leads Opposition Leader Bill Shorten as preferred prime minister 61.9% to 38.1% – despite being in the job for less than three days.
Treasurer Joe Hockey is expected to lose his post to Scott Morrison, who became known internationally as immigration minister and the face of the Abbott government’s zero-tolerance position on boat refugees.
Senator Brandis said his judgment was Mr Turnbull brought a boundless confidence and optimism to the leadership. Emotionally this is a very draining time for people and I feel for Tony and I feel for ( his wife) and his daughters. Abbott, however, appointed only one woman to his cabinet: Julie Bishop. Labor MP Nick Champion told Sky News that the Liberals replacing Mr Abbott with Mr Turnbull was like “drinking a can of Coke after being bitten by a brown snake”.
Tony Abbott has indicated he intends to remain in Parliament, despite being defeated by Malcolm Turnbull in a ballot for the Liberal leadership on Monday.
“We anticipate that he will strongly condemn the racist activities and send a message to Australia that bigotry has no place in our society”, Mr Seyit said.
Turnbull has yet to comment on the issue, but to be fair, he’s only had a couple of hours to get coffee, gloat, do a victory lap of Parliament House and schedule that meeting with Australian Marriage Equality, so we’ll see how this plays out.
The Ipsos poll has the Liberal Party leading Labor after preferences are distributed by 52 to 48 per cent – it was 62 to 38 per cent at the 2013 general election. Swan himself switched allegiances from long-time friend Rudd to Gillard in the 2010 coup. At the time, Abbott asked his colleagues to give him six months to improve his government’s popularity.

The snap vote came after Turnbull publicly challenged Abbott earlier on Monday, criticizing the latter’s leadership style and his inability to pass reforms in parliament.
