Turnovers Bury Michigan State Against #11 Wisconsin

It wasn’t until Dixon watched Musso’s highlight tapes from his days at Waunakee High School that Dixon believed Musso was once a record-breaker out of the backfield. Michigan State actually out-gained Wisconsin 325-317 on the afternoon, but keep in mind 206 yards came after Corey Clement’s five-yard touchdown run to put UW up by 24.

Did they ever. With poised freshman quarterback Alex Hornibrook overcoming an early fumble to convert third down after third down against the Spartans’ elite defense and the UW defense showing it hasn’t lost a step from last season by stifling Michigan State’s running game, allowing no big pass plays and forcing four turnovers, the Badgers not only validated their victory over LSU, they improved upon it. “He definitely proved me wrong”.

Can Wisconsin continue this heading into a top 10 matchup in Ann Arbor next week?

4 days ago – It’s a massive showdown to start the Big Ten season that could turn out to be a preview of the conference title game.

“We’ve had very exciting games with them”, Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio said. “I thought it was a good plan by our defensive coaches because our kids understood it, and they were able to execute it, and they were opportunistic”.

Along with Musso’s fumble recovery, the Badgers received interceptions from Sojourn Shelton, Derrick Tindal and T.J. Edwards.

This Wisconsin at Michigan State 2016 game will go a long way in starting to answer that question.

Wisconsin had the ball for 32:48, forced four turnovers, outrushed Michigan State 122-75 and went 7 of 16 on third down.

The redshirt freshman has yet to start, but after rallying Wisconsin last week against Georgia State, it looks like he’ll take over for fifth-year senior Bart Houston.

O’Connor completed just 18 of 38 passes for 224 yards, three interceptions and zero touchdowns.

(1) ALABAMA 48, KENT STATE 0: Jalen Hurts ran and passed for a touchdown, and tailback sub Joshua Jacobs scored his first two career touchdowns as Alabama (4-0) defeated Kent State (1-3) at Tuscaloosa, Alabama. “So really it’s just all about having the mentality that we’re going to do what we do, dominate and I guess we didn’t run the ball well”. Defensively, MSU is holding opponents to 72 rushing yards per game, which could come in handy against Wisconsin. “We just played better”.

MSU’s defense was better than the final score. Our coaches tell us that.

Michigan State must learn from their mistakes against Wisconsin and focus on their next game when they go on the road to face IN next Saturday. They kicked a field goal on their next drive, after which the wheels really started to fall of Michigan State’s wagon. O’Connor was the only player with a decent shot at him on the return, and Musso spun past the quarterback and went all the way to the end zone for a 66-yard touchdown. Hornibrook is young at quarterback, and Corey Clement averaged only 2.3 yards per carry on Saturday.

Offensively, Wisconsin football is 236.7 yards in passing and 205.0 yards in rushing, and 31.0 points per game.

Where: Spartan Stadium; East Lansing, Mich. He finished with 23 carries for 54 yards and two TDs.

Building momentum: The Spartans and Badgers enter unbeaten, and a win Saturday for Michigan State would set it up well for the next few weeks with winnable conference games against Indiana, Northwestern and Maryland, along with a non-conference visit from BYU.

Andrew Endicott desperately wanted to nail the 55-yard field goal attempt at the end of the first half.

In the end, the Badgers were slightly out-gained on the day but the score and play on the field didn’t show it. The Badgers haven’t defeated two top-10 teams in the same year since 1962.
