Tweets Show Why Simone Biles’ and Simone Manuel’s Gold Medals Matter

American swimmer Simone Manuel won the gold medal in the women’s 100-meter freestyle Thursday night at the Rio Olympics. That her first senior global event is an Olympics, and not just in the relay but in three other events as well, is – nearly as much as her data bills. Recently LeBron shouted out a couple of American Olympians on Instagram. “I’m not the next Usain Bolt or Michael Phelps, I’m the first Simone Biles”, shot back the world’s best gymnast.

The journalist and Ferlito both laughed over the racist remark.

“My Catholic faith is very important to me”.

“I’m super glad with the fact that I can be an inspiration to others and hopefully diversify the sport”, she added.

As noted by CNN Sports, 19-year-old Biles was able to show skeptics that she could cope with the pressure and live up to the “hype” around her. Only a major mishap would have prevented her coronation, and she never falls.

“That’s insane to think about”, Biles said when asked about winning five gold medals. “I’m still the same person”. When she became the first black gymnastics world champion in 2013, Carlotta Ferlito, an Italian gymnast, told a journalist that she had joked with a friend that they should “also paint our skin black, so then we could win, too”.

American athletes were in the mood to make history yesterday at the Olympics.

The United States has around a 600-medal lead over the Soviet Union.

“It’s such an honor to be under that name, I don’t know what to think”, Biles said. “From a personal political point of view, I believe this “strategy to help raise participation in under-represented racial groups” is UTTER NON-SENSE”.

Aliya Mustafina was Simone Biles’ biggest threat in Thursday’s individual all-around finals for Women’s Gymnastics (besides fan-favorite Aly Raisman, that is).

She said Manuel was a natural at the sport. Manuel tweeted after her gold-medal performance. Join the list of first!

They reported that “in Rio it was the hype which failed to keep up with Simone Biles”.

Manuel singled out Jones, Neal and Correia for blazing a path.

The star of the USA women’s gymnastics team won Individual all-around gold this week as she helped the U.S.to team gold.

The teenager, who had already won a record three successive world all around titles before coming to Rio, bagged her first Olympic individual gold by a margin 2.100 points. After 16 Olympic appearances, the tiny island nation earn its first medal.
