Twin PKK attacks kill eight in Turkey’s southeast

The Minister reported at least four people were killed and 30 others were wounded, including five police officers, when a homemade roadside bomb exploded in the southeastern Mardin province late yesterday.
A roadside bomb was set off in Kiziltepe just as a police bus passed by.
The blast killed three people and wounded at least 30 people – including five children.
Turkish police detained 17 people as part of an operation aimed at Kurdish militants early on Thursday, conducting raids across Istanbul, including at the offices of the pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), state-run Anadolu Agency said.

Turkey’s Transport Minister Ahmet Arslan told media the Kurdistan’s Workers’ Party (PKK) was responsible for the two attacks.
The PKK has kept up attacks after the failed coup on 15 July during which a rogue military faction tried to oust President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan from power.
Since then, more than 600 security personnel and more than 7,000 PKK terrorists have been killed.
The private Dogan news agency said that insurgents attacked military vehicles with improvised explosives and with rockets fired from inside northern Iraq. Two civilians also died in the bombing.

The raids, in 10 districts across Turkey’s largest city, targeted the “urban structure” of the PKK, Anadolu said.
