Twins Trade Nolasco, Meyer To Angels For Santiago
The Minnesota Twins have acquired starting pitcher Hector Santiago a minor leaguer from the Los Angeles Angels for right-handers Ricky Nolasco and Alex Meyer and cash.

Santiago, 28, is 10-4 with a 4.25 ERA and a 107/57 K/BB ratio in 120 2/3 innings. He has split time between the Twins and the team’s Triple-A affiliate this season, going 0-1 in two appearances for Minnesota. Despite stringing together quite the scoreless innings streak earlier in the year, the veteran southpaw now owns a 4.25 ERA across 22 starts and a total of 120.2 innings of work.
He will enter his final year of arbitration eligibility after this season.
The problem for Santiago has been his command. While he’s having his worst season to date, he has been a reliable starter over the past three seasons with the White Sox and Angels.
However, he has not fared well atop the big league level while posting a career 17.18 ERA across 6.1 innings of work.
While Meyer, 26, hasn’t developed like the Twins had hoped he would.
Nolasco, 33, has continued to be inconsistent for the Twins.

The lanky right-hander has also struggled with his command in the Twins minor leagues. He’s battled a nagging shoulder injury for most of the season, but the Angels will have him under team control for a while.
