Twitter announced on Wednesday that it had named Google’s former chief business officer Omid Kordestani as its executive chairman, in a further shakeup of its top ranks.

Kordestani, who hold a masters degree in business administration from Stanford University, joined Google in 1999, as its 11th employee, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Kordestani is filling the position that Jack Dorsey left following his appointment as a full-time chief executive officer.
In breaking news, many Twitter users across the globe are experiencing issues accessing the network right now. The analyst wrote that while his firm continues “to believe Twitter is the real-time Web, that its ‘#’ and product are firmly ingrained in our culture and that new management should bring stability to the organization, we feel engagement growth is likely to remain below that of industry peers as it will likely take time for Moments and newer products to gain traction”.
“It’s rare you get to be at a company with an wonderful business that’s also transforming the world”. That will include help with board and employee recruiting and advising executive leadership.
A senior Google executive has been poached by twitter. He worked as Chief Business Officer at Google and also served as the special advisor to the CEO of Google.
James Cakmak, an analyst at Monness, Crespi, Hardt & Co., told Reuters that Kordestani is a good fit for Twitter.
The announcement came a day after the social networking site laid off eight percent of its workforce or 336 out of its 4,100 employees across the globe.

He received an annual salary of $236,500, a bonus of $6.5 million, and $123.5 million worth of stock awards. The two companies have struck partnerships in recent months, including showing Tweets in search results and allowing advertisers to use Google’s DoubleClick service to buy and measure ad views on Twitter.
