Apple’s plan to stop letting companies like Twitter see which apps people have installed on their phones or tablets won’t have any effect on the company’s ability to charge advertisers for actual installs, Mr. Alfonsi added.

Rather than paying whenever a user clicks on a link, for example, advertisers can opt to pay only when a user downloads an app or installs the product advertised.

App install ads have been a notable success for Facebook, and they’re turning into a broader battle between the big digital media companies.

VP of global business development and platforms of Twitter, Richard Alfonsi said that the new feature will be “an immersive experience to have video directly in the tweet. It creates great performance and lets marketers convey a lot more about what the app does”.

Twitter says mobile app marketers will also soon be able to leverage its unique targeting to reach mobile users across partner apps on over a billion devices. Twitter says that can increase cost-efficiency for many of its customers.

SAN FRANCISCO: Twitter Inc rolled out three new products for its direct response advertising on Wednesday, two months after the company said weak demand for the product had lowered its revenue forecast for the year.

The Twitter Ads companion offers metrics on advertising impressions, engagement rates, and cost per engagement for campaigns and accounts. The new additions should be especially attractive to Internet start-ups, allowing them to reach large audiences efficiently.
