Twitter introduces four new Indian languages; includes Gujarati, Kannada
The languages are Kannada, Marathi, Gujarati, and Tamil.

The microblogging site, is eyeing millions of Indians as local language content and offerings are expected to be a large market in India over the next five years.
With these four new Indic languages added, the total Indian language support for Twitter up to six Indic languages – both Hindi and Bengali have been supported for over a year now.
Earlier, Facebook and Google also have offered more than 10 Indian languages on their respective platforms. Twitter is now available in Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, and Tamil, on the Web and on Android. Twitter India’s head of communications, Rohan Vyavaharkar had this to say: ”At Twitter, our constant focus is to enhance user experience so that more and more people can use the platform and reap benefits from it”.
No additional settings are necessary to use Twitter in native language, in order the change the language, users have to select their choice from settings option in the drop down menu of the profile.
Keen to boost its user base in the country, the social networking site has made it easy for twitterati to tweet in more regional languages.
According to a post on Twitter’s official blog, “These four languages were partially translated by a passionate community of Twitter users via the Translation Center – we couldn’t have done it without their help”.

The company also acquired ZipDial Mobile Solutions Pvt. According a report, the user base may increase to 40 million by 2018 in India.
