In Pennsylvania, Clinton has been losing support among women and Democrats.

Trump and his running mate, Indiana Governor Mike Pence, defended the comment.

But, if Lauer wasn’t good with the Clinton interview, he was really very bad when handling Trump, letting him get away with “blatant lies”. Trump also said Wednesday night he thinks that under the “leadership of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, the generals have been reduced to rubble” and, in the past, he has claimed to “know more about ISIS than the generals”.

Before that, Trump was widely condemned in July when, in an off-handed remark, Trump called on the Russian government to intervene in the election by releasing thousands of Clinton’s private emails. She also touted the support of numerous Republican national security experts that have chosen to endorse her candidacy, helping bolster her case that Trump is broadly unacceptable.

According to Quinnipiac, Trump also holds a four-point edge in OH, and he is tied with Clinton at 43% in Florida, according to the poll. “Those are people we have to understand and empathize with as well”, she said. “We don’t send our courageous men and women around the world to steal oil”.

Trump ccontinues to pressure the former first lady and secretary of state in the polls and he has made significant headway in fundraising efforts in recent months.

While New York Magazine went with the headline: “Matt Lauer’s Pathetic Interview of Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump Is the Scariest Thing I’ve Seen in This Campaign”. Pence called it “inarguable” that Putin is a stronger leader than the US president.

“Vladimir Putin is an aggressor that does not share our interests”, House Speaker Paul Ryan told reporters Thursday. “Vladimir Putin is violating the sovereignty of neighboring countries”, Ryan said at his weekly news conference. After the forum, Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus tweeted about Clinton’s demeanor and “no smile”.

Mrs. Clinton said Republicans holding or seeking office across the country should be pressed on whether they agree with Mr. Trump’s comments. However, Clinton’s strategy seems to be to let Trump get the free media he wants while she sits back – a “rope-a-dope” strategy, as NPR’s Ron Elving put it recently.
