Twitter is left in hysterics after Durex ‘launches’ eggplant-flavoured condoms
The brand tweeted an image of the box, which refers to the big purple vegetable as its USA name, “Eggplant”.

This is how the news that the mighty aubergine would be joining strawberry, banana and orange in the condom maker’s flavour arsenal was broken to the world.
The new flavour comes in line with the hype around the aubergine emoji, which is commonly used in place of a penis while sexting. “Juas” means “wow” in Spanish.
Global research commissioned by Durex, released last November, revealed people between ages 18 and 25 are far more comfortable discussing sex when emojis are involved.
The brinjal flavoured condom has been launched by global condom manufacturer Durex and people have only one question. Why?
Chocolate, banana and strawberry johnnies have become commonplace in the supermarket aisles, but now Durex has made a decision to add something a bit more niche to the mix. Skins has a bubblegum option, Pasante has a fizzy cola one and J&D’s offers a bacon-flavoured treat.
Durex tweeted an image of the box, which uses the vegetable’s American name “Eggplant”.
Now, thanks to Durex, we have almost reached the point of being able to have a whole dinner in condom form.
The condom-giant isn’t actually going to sell eggplant condoms – it’s a marketing gimmick to get the attention of the Unicode Consortium to make a safe-sex emoji.
In a tongue-in-cheek statement, Durex said it hoped the hoped the new eggplant product would help empower young people to put “safe sex back on the menu”, but admitted that the new “flavour” was just a concept and wouldn’t be hitting shelves any time soon.
