Launching today, Twitter’s TV app plans to stream entire games from NFL Thursday Night Football, as well as content from MLB Advanced Media, Pac 12 Networks, Campus Insiders, Cheddar, Bloomberg News, and the National Basketball Association. For Apple TV alone, the viewers can exclusively watch live premium videos and also check the video clips that have been tweeted simultaneously through a flawless side-by-side video experience.
People who want to watch video on Twitter will now be able to do so from their living rooms.
The short-messaging service secured the rights to stream 10 Thursday night games this year as it attempts to broaden its appeal. Twitter has struck similar deals to stream other sports, entertainment and news content alongside relevant tweets from its network – all of which can be viewed on the applications.
Starting Wednesday, Twitter for Apple TV is available globally while for Xbox One will be available in Australia, Britain, Brazil, Canada, Mexico and the U.S., and as for the Amazon Fire TV, the app will available in the USA and Britain as for now. Twitter has made it known that this service will be available to everyone in those markets whether or not they have a Twitter account or a cable or a satellite subscription to access the HD streams. Twitter on Xbox One will be available in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom and the US.
That will include 10 National Football League games, Bloomberg News and others. However, that will likely change in the coming weeks. If you don’t have any of these devices, you can pick up an Amazon Fire TV or Fire TV Stick and still have it in time for tomorrow’s Thursday Night game where the New York Jets head to Buffalo to take on the Bills.
