Twitter planning 10000-character limit for tweets

In his message, Dorsey wrote that Twitter has already noticed that many of its roughly 300 million users already have been including screenshots of lengthy texts in their tweets.

Although Re/code could not confirm a launch date for the feature, inside sources expected for the longer limit to roll out before the end of the first quarter. Well then you might be pleased to learn that Twitter is considering a 10 000 character limits on tweets.

The report was announced on Re/Code and says that the limit will be the same of Direct Messages, so it seems as though Twitter were testing the waters with this product. However, in the near future the users of the majorly popular social media platform could see longer messages with up to probably 10,000-character length.

“Instead, what if the text… was actually text?” Re/Code reports that there could be a possible change in character limit before the feature is finally rolled out. Jack Dorsey, the company’s co-founder, who returned as chief executive in October, in a series of tweets did not say whether Twitter would expand the limit. Currently, a version of the product is being tested by twitter in which tweets are seen appearing in the way they are doing now, just displaying 140 characters.

“140 characters is not almost enough to express my outrage that Twitter is raising the character limit to 10,000”, tweeted writer Brian Phillips, in 111 characters.

He said as long as it was consistent with what people wanted to do, they would explore it. To expand the tweet and view the entire content, you’d have to click on this button. Twitter’s user count remained flat at 66 million in the US, world’s largest advertising market. Text that could be highlighted.

San Francisco-based Twitter Inc. declined to comment on its plans.

The condensed nature of Twitter’s main feature has been bolstered as a benefit with earlier attempts from third-party start-ups to allow for lengthened tweets like TwitLonger never finding broad appeal.

Twitter may soon say goodbye to its 140 character limit
