Twitter reactions to Cleveland Browns placing Robert Griffin III on IR

Let that sink in for a minute… The 6-foot-3, 212-pound Matthews dropped the first ball thrown to him but soon afterward caught a 19-yard touchdown pass to get the Eagles off to a good start in the first quarter. “He was trying to make a play for us”. Sunday’s game left a lot of Browns fans with a feeling of “here we go again”. Wentz looked like the real deal Sunday, throwing for 278 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Eagles over the Browns in his first National Football League start.

Adding insult to injury, the Browns were beaten by Eagles rookie quarterback Carson Wentz, a player they passed on taking and traded the No. 8 overall pick to Philadelphia.

He’ll get a slightly bigger test Monday night when the Eagles travel to Chicago to play the Bears in a nationally televised game.

“Hang in there, buddy”. One of which was that the team could get 16 games to evaluate the potential of quarterback Robert Griffin III. (Wentz) had a good game, a great game if you guys want to term it that, and I respect that. What you can blame them for, is pinning their hopes on an oft-injured quarterback who hadn’t played in over a year. “But you’re also concerned about the fact they even happen, even if you don’t miss them from an officiating standpoint”. It takes an urgent snap count to force the defenders to get into position to play the defense they’re in on that specific play and Wentz knows how to do it. It’s already looking like a lost season for the ever-changing Browns and their new front office.

Griffin was never supposed to be the long-term answer. Barack Obama was speaking in Philadelphia at an event promoting Hillary Clinton’s presidential bid, and during his address, the president referenced VP Joe Biden and the new Eagles quarterback. Many will question why Bardnidge’s fantasy stock would rise with McCown in over Griffin, but the two have proved to be a dynamic combination when on the field together. McCown is a competitive leader, who has been around the league for years.

Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin did not have an update on injured linebacker Ryan Shazier on Tuesday, but he did say several other players that missed a season-opening victory at Washington might be ready to play Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals. It was reported during the game that the Chargers diagnosed him with an ACL tear. Josh McCown, 37, will start, with Kessler as the backup. McCown, who coincidentally sustained a concussion in his debut with Cleveland past year, made eight starts for the Browns last season and passed for 457 yards in a victory over the Ravens. Losing Griffin after week one is nearly comically appropriate for this franchise, and the added sting of getting burned by Wentz just adds another layer to the Browns’ misery.

Clearly, McCown has made the tight end better and he will do the same thing with the rest of Cleveland’s offense. McCown went 1-7 in eight starts last season.

“So, after one game, the Browns are on plan B. There’s 15 more games to go”.

Head coach Hue Jackson has his work cut out for him.

Likelihood we’ll see a rookie at QB?
