The original version by the Patti LaBelle-led Labelles was released in 1974 and was well-received, topping the Billboard Hot 100 chart. All Saints took it on in 1998, and Christina Aguilera, Pink, Lil’ Kim, and Mya gathered to collaborate for the Moulin Rouge! soundtrack in 2001.
However, Ora’s list of ladies was met with horror on the internet.
Check out more of the unanimous reactions to shoot this “Lady Marmalade” remake idea down in the gallery below.
Tweeters responded to Rita’s suggestion with their own picks for the “Lady Marmalade” lineup, throwing out names like Demi Lovato, Beyoncé, Nicki Minaj Tinashe, Ariana Grande, Rihanna and, of course, Lady Gaga. Are we ready for a new rendition and do you agree with Rita’s picks?
Elsewhere on Iggy’s Twitter feed, she potentially started a beef with actual beef.

Fans thought it was time to revive the fun song – but with a different cast. Earlier this week, Ora told The Sun, via NME, that doing another version of “Lady Marmalade” had “always been my goal”.
