Twitter replaces stars with hearts to ‘ease experience for new users’
“The heart is more expressive, enabling you to convey a range of emotions and easily connect with people.” in a blog post. Twitter said: “You might like a lot of things, but not everything can be your favorite”. The company announced that it is replacing favorites with “likes”, and they will be represented in its apps and on the web by red heart icons.

Twitter Favorite: Install this extension and change that pesky heart icon back to the old Favorite star.
Though stars were somewhat confusing-some people favorited tweets they enjoyed, while others used them to bookmark a message or link-not everyone “likes” this week’s change.
Jack Dorsey, Twitter’s new full time CEO, has made several changes to the platform since taking over. Twitter has focused efforts lately on making the service easier to navigate, in order to draw in new users and fight stagnating growth. The tiny star icon found under every tweet has been now removed.
Twitter’s star, which designates a “favorite”, is going the way of the dodo bird.
The new icon will be available on iOS and Android, Twitter.com, TweetDeck, and the Vine Android app and website, according to USA Today. In that way, a star functions differently from a heart.
Twitter’s “favorite” button is no more.
One user wrote: ‘What just happened to my desktop Twitter? Why then did Twitter make the move? Much like other changes that make Twitter more scrutable to newcomers, from the redesigned profile pages to the updated conversation view, this changeup has Twitter users scared their playground of self-involved witticisms might soon be filled by people who are honest and kind to each other.
