Monday it was announced that the NHL will stream one out-of-market game per week on the service as a part of the league’s deal with MLBAM.

The deal for streaming rights to MLB and National Hockey League games was made with MLB Advanced Media and it went into effect immediately. All live streaming deals are through the social media site’s new partnership with MLBAM.
“Twitter is the fastest way to see what’s unfolding in Major League Baseball and the NHL”, said Anthony Noto, Twitter’s CFO. Twitter will release a schedule for the games at a later date. In addition, OTT network 120 Sports will produce an exclusive, nightly multi-sports highlights show called The Rally, said Twitter.
The once-a-week out-of-market baseball and hockey games will be available free for logged-in and logged-out U.S. Twitter users with MLB games available worldwide, except in select global territories.
The company added that “The Rally” would utilize a distinct format meant to amalgamate with its platform with the help of Twitter-based data to decide live trending topics. The social media service hopes that these streams will lead it to more interaction from sports fans that use its service to watch the games.

Twitter’s announcement comes less than a week after it scored a live-streaming deal with the National Basketball Association.
