Officers across the country are issuing a warning after the arrest of a man wanted for a child porn video that’s been shared around the world.
Crimestoppers said he turned himself in early Tuesday morning, and more charges are pending. “They should not be forwarding it. Let us do the investigation”, Jones said.
The instructions are simple.
Local, regional and worldwide police have advised their citizens that sharing the video, no mater the noblest of intentions is a criminal offence. Don’t even take a screenshot.
CPD is well aware of the video and has received and responded to MULTIPLE calls regarding its content since yesterday evening.
The video depicts a minor performing a sex act on an adult, and it has been circulating nationwide.
“The main concern is that by sharing it we’re re-victimizing the victim”, Griffin said.
“You need to go back to Atlanta because I don’t have anything to say”, said the woman behind the door to FOX 5’s George Franco. It’s important to keep in mind that those charges can lead to up to 40 years in prison, with a minimum of 5 years. Per AL.com, police and non-profit officials have in particular had to warn the public that sharing such content is not legal even if the goal is supposedly to express outrage or help identify the perpetrator. “If you are in possession of it, no matter your good intentions, that is also a felony”, Madison County Chief Trial Attorney Tim Gann said.
If this video should be shared with you, do not share it with anyone else via email or social media. The case is being handled by investigators in Alabama where the crime took place.
Walker said it became apparent during the investigation that the video had a strong connection to the Montgomery area.
Never click on or open unsolicited emails or messages from unknown contacts.
The Marietta Police Department emphasizes that anyone who receives this video must not share the video with anyone.
He was arrested after a video of one of the incidents started spreading on Facebook.

The victim, according to Walker, gave police a verbal statement and although she is physically safe, she’ll likely be traumatized her entire life.
