Divers recovered the bodies of Melissa McMahan and Tammy Reece overnight, and continue to search for the two missing men.
According to a spokesman with the Department of Natural Resources, the bodies of two women were pulled from the general area of where the boat capsized overnight.
Hall County Fire Services Marine Rescue divers were deployed when the call came in at around 4 p.m. and searched the area with assistance from the Hall County Sheriff’s Office, DNR and the Corps of Engineers.
Officials said they believe the occupants of the boat were involved with the Pirates of Lanier Charity Poker Run, which was referenced on the event’s Facebook page.
The preliminary information, Adams said, was that the boat encountered a wake before overturning. Investigators are looking into if speed was a factor in the accident.
