Two children pulled from Durham pond
Authorities are investigating after two children were pulled from a pond Sunday night. Officers went to Shearwater Drive shortly after 9 p.m. An off-duty Durham County deputy had pulled two girls, 3 and 5 years old, out of the pond.

Neighbors said they saw emergency personnel give the children CPR before they were taken to a local hospital.
It’s not clear why Lassiter and his children were at the apartment complex, Durham Police Chief Jose Lopez said, and there is no evidence the family lived there.
Lopez said a man claiming to be the father of the children was being interviewed at police headquarters.
The 7-year-old boy was able to run to a nearby business for help, police said.
Lassiter’s bond was set at $2.25 million.
Police say the 3-year-old girl is in critical condition and the 5-year-old girl in stable condition.
