Two critically injured in Kansas tornado

There were over 25 reports of tornadoes across five states and Weather Network Storm Hunters Jaclyn Whittal and Mark Robinson witnessed at least nine of those tornadoes, saying they’ve “never seen anything like it”.

“We have secure hallways, and we’ve put our patients in the secure hallways toward the center of the building”, said John Thompson, Western Plains Medical Center.

According to KSNW, two farm houses were destroyed in Hodgeman County and a house suffered roof damage in Edwards County. He says there are critical injuries, but no word on how many. According to the Associated Press, one person drowned in central Oklahoma when a vehicle was swept off the road. He says a large propane tank also tipped over.

Police Cpl. Jason Chester tells television station KAIT that the boy said he clung to a pole until the officers rescued him about three hours after his ordeal began.

Elsewhere, two weak tornadoes snapped pine trees as severe storms moved across Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, the National Weather Service said.

Emergency management officials in Ford County reported that two people were critically injured by tornadoes, the Kansas Adjutant General’s Department said in a statement early Wednesday. The Kansas Highway Patrol reports damage to structures on Highway 50 west of Dodge City.

The National Weather Service will conduct damage surveys today.

On Monday, a half dozen tornadoes were spotted in Iowa, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Texas. The National Weather Service said 3 to 6 inches of rain fell in parts of Oklahoma.
