Two Days After Major Trump Campaign Shakeup, Manafort Resigns

“Manafort’s resignation is a clear admission that the disturbing connections between Donald Trump’s team and pro-Kremlin elements in Russian Federation and Ukraine are untenable”, Robby Mook, campaign manager of Clinton Campaign, said yesterday.

As recently as a few months ago, Donald Trump’s presidential campaign appeared to be at odds with itself, with a civil war of sorts between campaign manager Corey Lewandowski and campaign chairman Paul Manafort.

The statement, however, offered no explanation for departure of the veteran Republican campaign strategist who joined Trump’s campaign in March. “[In] particular his work guiding us through the delegate and convention process”.

Manafort has also been plagued with media coverage surrounding questions about his ties to the pro-Russian government in Ukraine, where he helped to run the political campaign of Viktor Yanukovych’s election in 2010.

The Associated Press reported Thursday that Manafort’s firm orchestrated a covert Washington lobbying operation on behalf of Ukraine’s then-ruling political party. They never disclosed the amount of money received for their efforts nor did they register with the Department of Justice as foreign agents, in apparent violation of federal law that requires U.S. lobbyists to disclose the amount paid by foreign entities.

The Republican presidential candidate named Stephen Bannon, head of Breitbart News, as the campaign’s chief executive, and longtime conservative pollster Kellyanne Conway was assigned the role of campaign manager.

Neither Manafort nor Gates were taking a paycheck from the Trump campaign as of June 30, according to campaign finance reports filed with federal regulators.

Why he said it I understand.

“If Mr Manafort denies any allegations, I think he has to be interrogated into this case and prove his position that he was not involved”, Leshchenko added.

Although, Trump won the Republican nomination through his abrasive and insensitive style of speech, and his daughter, Ivanka Trump, too, touted her father as a “political outsider” but this strategy, apparently, ceased to pay dividends as campaign gets closer to the Election Day.

This week was the second major change in Trump campaign leadership. Campaign sources said that Trump had been unhappy with Manafort for a variety of reasons. I do regret it, particularly where it may have caused personal pain.

“Our campaign is about representing the great majority of Americans. who read the newspaper or turn on the TV and don’t hear anyone speaking for them”, Trump said. “If you start pivoting, you’re not being honest with people”.
