Two Dead, Three Critically Injured In OVO Fest Afterparty Shooting

Despite a large police presence outside the venue, shots were fired inside Muzik nightclub on the grounds of Exhibition Place, Toronto deputy police chief Peter Sloly said. The Toronto Star reported that a non-fatal shooting occurred at the same nightclub after the 2014 event, though that only injured one person.

The three other injured people were rushed to local hospitals, while the police believe there could be more gunshot victims who, for whatever reason, have not sought medical treatment. He said three people were hospitalized with various injuries.

A man was also shot at an OVO Festival afterparty at Muzik past year.

A man and woman were killed in a shooting at a Canadian music festival after-party hosted by rapper Drake.

A police spokesman said there were three crime scenes.

Moreira said the victims were a man and woman in their early to mid-20s.

“This is a sporadic shooting that did occur just before 3:30 this morning at 15 Saskatchewan”, read Toronto Police superintendent Frank Bergen.

This is the second year in a row that an OVO-related shooting has taken place at Muzik.

“Uniformed officers have the area cordoned off because it is a very large scene”.

He said the organizers of the “well-run event” were doing their best and the incident happened as they were shutting down for the evening.

None of the victims’ identities have been released by police. Specially-trained officers had also been present at the start of the party, conducting body searches and using metal detectors on all patrons entering the nightclub.

“We’re absolutely shocked by this horrific attack”, club owner Zlatko Starkovski said in the statement.

Sloly said there was private security present inside the club as well.

Bergen called the after-party “a well-run event with police officers in and around the nightclub”.
