Two Gardaí ‘brutally assaulted’ by gang in Dublin
There has been a renewed call for rank-and-file gardaí to be given taser guns.

“The guy comes in clumsily, like something from the OK Corral [wild west gunfight] and fires two shots”, one source told the Irish Examiner. “If you use a shotgun, you are not talking about a marksman”.
They said the attack was unprovoked.
The incident happened on Manor Street in Stoneybatter in Dublin’s north inner city shortly after midnight.
It is understood the man did not suffer life-threatening injuries and g ardai said he was taken to Tallaght Hospital.
The shooting took place on Greenhills Road at about 11.35am. The auto was later found a short distance away on Corrig Close.
