Andrea Yates drowned her five children in the bathtub and was found not guilty by reason of insanity during a second trial in 2006 and confined to a state mental hospital. After eating, she drew water and called Kayiana in for a bath.

A Texas mother of three has been arrested and charged with murdering two of her children. In fact, the police have been to her home before, but it wasn’t for anything big deal. She also said she tried to dig a hole near the side of the house the next day but was not able to dig it deep enough for the bodies to fit, investigators said. That was after investigators say she had done the unthinkable: drowning her son Oralynn, 7, and daughter Kayana, 5, in a bathtub. The next morning she went to work to try to get her check early, but her employer would not give it to her, so she returned home. Investigators allege that once Thomas’ daughter was in the bathtub, she pushed her daughter’s head underwater, and held it there until the child stopped moving. “He continued to help her pack”, Smith said. Later, they say she rolled them underneath her next door neighbor’s house in the Third Ward.
The person asked where her kids were, and the mom allegedly confessed to killing the kids on Friday.
The paycheck she was trying to pick up was just $47 dollars.
According to that reported aunt, the father of the children – Thomas’ partner – is now serving time in jail. “To me she was like, a real nice person”. Instead, she said she put the children under the neighbor’s house, according to homicide detectives.
Online records do not list an attorney to speak for the mother.
Smith told reporters there had been no major calls for service to police for the home she had rented since April.
Thomas allegedly instructed the acquaintance about the location of the bodies. He thought she was joking.
According to Selgo, he did not talk with the Thomas family very much and did not know them very well. She also stated this is the kind of devastating stuff you see on television and think about how it is never going to happen to you and your family. Smith says she told the man she was moving and “matter of factly” informed him she killed her children. He then tracked down an officer after driving her to a nearby police percent. She then asked the man if he could help her move her things from her house. “That’s just disgusting”, she said. He convinced her to get in his vehicle, then immediately drove her to a police station. She, then, wrapped both of their bodies in sheets and placed the bodies in a trash can close to her home. Thomas was scheduled to appear before a judge on Monday.
With short pigtails and a wide smile, 5-year-old Kahana Thomas was reportedly a happy child.

Thomas has a 12-year old son who was not harmed. CPS has, so far, not placed him into their custody. The children lived in the Houston home for only a few months.
