Two hurt in West Bank auto ramming, Palestinian attacker killed: army

The Palestinian health ministry said in an e-mailed press statement that Abdul Rahman Barghouti (27), was shot dead by Israeli troops’ gunfire in the village of Aabood, north of the West Bank city of Ramallah.

Hours earlier and just 12 miles away, a Palestinian stabbed and wounded an Israeli soldier before being shot dead.

Donald Trump is planning a trip to Israel for a meet-up with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, he said late Wednesday.

A wave of violence since October 1 has so far claimed the lives of more than 120 people, including 107 Palestinians and 17 Israelis.

Yesterday alone four Palestinian men were killed by the Israeli occupation forces.

“Two assailants stabbed a soldier in Hebron”. Violence erupted over tensions at a sensitive holy site in Jerusalem, sacred to both Jews and Muslims, and quickly escalated and spread to the West Bank, Israel and the Gaza border.

The police statement said “youths belonging to a Jewish terror group” suspected of carrying out attacks on Palestinians were arrested over the past few days, and there were “solid suspicions” linking them to the arson at the Dawabshehs’ home.

Over the past two months, unrest has surged, with nearly daily stabbings, auto rammings and shootings by Palestinians, which have killed 19 Israelis and one U.S. citizen.

It is unusual for Palestinian security agents to be implicated in such attacks. Ali Dawabsheh, a toddler, was burned to death, while his mother and father later died of their wounds.

He then jumped out of his vehicle and attacked bystanders with an iron bar before being shot dead by police.

The two-state solution envisions an independent Palestinian state alongside Israel, with the boundaries negotiated in talks between the parties.

Nineteen Israelis have been killed in attacks during the same time period.

A lawyer representing one suspect held over the arson appeared in court in the Israeli city of Lod on Thursday to request access to speak with his client, but was refused, he said. Their four young children in the back of the vehicle escaped unharmed.

Also on Thursday, an IDF soldier and an Israeli civilian were wounded in a terrorist shooting attack at the Hizma checkpoint outside the Jerusalem neighborhood of Pisgat Ze’ev.
