The website says the company, which started operations in 2007, was the first fast boat company to offer a daily service between Bali and the Gili Islands.

Indonesian police said Friday there is no indication that a terror attack was the cause of a tourist boat explosion in Bali that killed two people and injured about 20 others.

Authorities have not yet released the identities of the two people who were killed, but AFP cited police saying that one was a woman and that she died from head injuries.

Sudarso said the explosion, which occurred when the boat was about 200 meters (220 yards) from the port of departure, shattered its rear windows and upended seating.

A “short circuit” near the fuel tank may have been the cause, officials said, ruling out a bomb.

The passengers on board of recreation boat Gilicat 2 were with English, German, Holland, French, Italian and Spanish nationalities, while the crew were Indonesians. “We are seeking to confirm this”, he said. The explosions were thought to have come from the fuel tank of the ferry.

Aside from Germany, a manifest showed that passengers were from several other countries, including Britain, France, Italy and Spain.

The injured were taken to hospitals in Denpasar, Bali’s capital.

Bali and neighbouring Lombok are two of Indonesia’s most popular holiday destinations.
