More than 70,000 people have reportedly been killed in the conflict so far, a lot of them by the Indian Armed forces. More than 40 protesters were hit by the pellets.
Ahmed, according to health officials, received pellet injuries in his chest and abdomen during a clash.
Indian army’s re-entry in Pulwama, Shopian, Kulgam and Anantnag came days after a parliamentary delegation of Indian politicians had visited the Kashmir. Five civilians were also injured in the Hiller Dooru village after security personnel fired pellets during a protest march. Eyewitnesses said police and paramilitary forces were removing barricades set up by people on the roads at the time.
The separatists have extended the shutdown programme till September 16.
But the unrest shows few signs of abating, with residents continuing to take to the streets, while schools and most businesses remain closed, hitting the region’s economy hard.
A police officer was quoted as saying: “We have reports of more than 100 injured in today’s protests”.
