Some labourers are feared trapped under the debris, which the authorities were removing and trying to rescue those buried alive, officials said.
Eight injured persons rescued by locals soon after the collapse around 12.30 p.m were shifted to the nearby Apollo Hospital.
The dead were identified as Ansar Shaik of Kolkata and Anand from Hyderabad.
“The teams from GHMC, Fire department, police and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) are in action to save who are stuck under debris, if any”, a release from GHMC stated.
The workers were laying a huge cement slab on the roof of the first floor when the front side of the building came down. “After the preliminary probe, we will fix up responsibility and as per the evidence, certain section of the case may be altered to 304(II) (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the IPC if required”, West Zone DCP A Venkateswara Rao said.
It is suspected that the design of the building was the cause of the collapse.
