“Militants fired at a BSF convoy at Narsu Nallah on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway today (Wednesday)”, a senior police officer said.
The injured persons were evacuated to Udhampur through BSF ambulance.
Meanwhile, all vehicles including Amarnath yatra were stopped on the national highway as news about the terrorist attack came in.
The area was cordoned off as search teams launched combing operations to trace the terrorist who escaped towards nearby forests. He said that this attack is the first one in this part of the region in several years.
IG Jammu, Danish Rana said that two BSF jawans and a militant were killed.
Immediately after the incident, senior officers of the police and the BSF have rushed to the spot which is stated to be around 60 km from Udhampur. “They were shifted to hospital for treatment”.
Following the terrorists attack, additional force has been deployed at mountain peaks overlooking the highway.
