Both the pilot and the passenger were conscious and talking with rescuers before being transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Investigators said the pilot, identified as 78-year-old Marion Knox of Lebanon, had taken off from a private airstrip nearby and after flying for a short time, attempted to land.
Fire crews say the plane was neither stable nor fully supported on the roof.
The position of the plane was precarious, so firefighters had to secure the plane before rescuing the two people inside.
The plane, a 2008 experimental fixed-wing Vans Aircraft RV-6, is registered to Knox. Knox was removed from the plane by emergency personnel, who were still working to extricate Edmiston from the aircraft at about 1:30 p.m. But, a Lebanon pilot hit a little hard on his landing attempt today.
The Federal Aviation Administration and the Linn County Sheriff’s Department are investigating the cause of the crash.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a 2-seat light plane (a Van’s RV-6A) had crashed on top of a shop building.
