Two railway engine factories to be set up in Bihar: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Friday that India was still seen as one of the fastest growing economies in the world while the global economy was slowing down. There is also a third way, corporatise (restructure) them.

The Centre has described the situation in Chennai as “worrisome” and promised all possible support to the state government in the hour of crisis.

The Prime Minister was speaking at the 13th edition of Hindustan Times Leadership Summit in New Delhi. He proudly claimed that shipping companies which were in distress earlier have become profitable.

The PM added that he had reviewed stalled projects and found that about 60-65 projects had started working satisfactorily.

Centre should extend help to state from the Agriculture Price Stabilization Fund to help rubber growers, he said.

He pointed out those states which were not expected to do well in “Ease of Doing Business” rankings like Odisha, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh have proven themselves. “If we overlook the past two years and then evaluate, it will not be the right thing”, he said.

He said that his government is trying to electrify 18,000 villages across the country where even electric poles were not installed.

Progress of the country can not be done only from Delhi, states also play a vital role in this process, the Prime Minister added. “3004 villages have got electricity in the last 100 days”, said the Prime Minster Modi.
