Two soldiers, four militants killed in encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara

Two army troopers and four rebels were killed and four others injured in north Kashmir’s Kupwor district.

“Four Militants including two Army Jawans were killed in an ongoing gun battle in Kupwara while two army Jawans injured by receiving bullet injuries”, Army Spokesman in Srinagar NN Joshi told IBNS.

” After the incident, 41 RR, 16 Garhwal of Indian Army and Special Operations Group of the Jammu and Kashmir police had launched a operation to trace the hiding terrorists who after attacking the security forces.

The gunbattle resumed this morning in which two soldiers were martyred.

When the security forces closed in on the house, the militants opened fire, the official said, adding that the house in which the militants were holed up has been destroyed in the operation.

Two Armymen were also injured in the encounter that broke out on Friday.

Officials said troops cordoned off the area following intelligence inputs about presence of militants in the area.

The exchange of gunfire between militants and troops was going on until last reports came in.
