A string of explosions took place at Brussels airport and a city metro station, killing over 20 people. The arrest of Salah Abdeslam in Brussels last week heightened those fears, as investigators said many people involved in the 13 November Paris attacks that killed 130 people were still on the loose.

Chaphekar is seen sprawled out on a chair – her entire body covered in dust with her yellow blazer torn to threads, exposing her midriff.

Currently, Jet Airways operates daily non-stop flights to its European gateway at Brussels airport from its domestic hubs in Mumbai and New Delhi.

She said her first instinct after the explosion was to look down and make sure she had not lost her limbs in the bombing. “But at least she is alive”. One woman’s face and feet were streaked with blood.

According to a Jet Airways spokesperson, while one flight is scheduled to depart at 2.00 pm GMT (6.30 pm IST) for Mumbai, a second flight will leave Amsterdam at 4.00 pm GMT (8.30 pm IST) for Delhi (Flight details below). A bloodied right foot was raised just enough so it wasn’t hitting shards of broken glass scattered across the floor.

Uploaded to social media, the photo was shared by millions as the full horror of the terrorist attack became apparent. She had slumped backward into the closest seat, as passengers around her made panicked calls to their friends and loved ones.

“We are trying to reach one employee with whom we have not been able to connect”, the IT outsourcing firm said in a statement. “She was being operated upon for injuries and burns”, Chaphekar’s husband told the Times of India.
