Late Thursday afternoon, police in Colorado arrested a couple wanted for the kidnapping of three Fresno children and for questioning in the death of their mother.
Authorities were working with the Department of Children and Family Services to arrange for the safe return of the children to California, officials said.
Police believe Robertson and Humphrey might be connected to the murder and are wanted for the kidnapping of the victims three children after her death.
Law enforcement is on the lookout for Joshua Robertson and Brittany Humphrey in connection with the kidnapping of three California children and the murder of their mother.
She had suffered head wounds and multiple gunshots to the torso. He was arrested previously for having a firearm and the department says Robertson should be considered armed and unsafe.
She had been shot in the upper body, the sheriff’s department reported.
Humphrey is Harvill’s half-sister, and therefore the children’s aunt.
Safe: Harvill’s kids, including Joslynn Watkins (pictured), two, disappeared around the time she died. “The police officers then responded to that area where they detained Joshua and they took him into custody”, said Lt. Joe Mendoza, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Dept.
Authorities have listed the three children ages 2, 3, and 5, as “Missing Persons at Risk”.
Mendoza said investigators know of no ongoing conflict between the sisters.
The couple is believed to be traveling in a forest green or silver Ford Explorer, eastbound on the 40 freeway.
The pair left the children about 700 miles away from the remote town of Lebec, where their mother’s bullet-riddled body was discovered 10 days earlier, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said. A warrant has been issued for their arrest.
