Two teenagers die in school bus crash

A school bus swerved off a Houston overpass Tuesday, killing two students and seriously injuring the bus driver and two other students.

One student was killed and another one hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle on their way to school, Tuesday morning.

“I honestly don’t know why they don’t have seat belts”, San Antonio mother Veronica Byrd said.

A feminine scholar died on the scene, whereas a second woman died at a hospital, in accordance with the Houston Unbiased Faculty District.

The bus landed nose-down in Houston yesterday morning.

Terry Grier, Superintendent of HISD schools said, “We are deeply saddened by this tragedy”. The driver of the Buick is detained and being interviewed by authorities, but no charges have been filed. The bus then went off the overpass and onto the roadway below. The bus is equipped with lap belts for students.

School district officials identified the driver as Louisa Pacheco.

HISD has about 950 buses on the road each day, transporting 34,000 students. Footage from those cameras is being reviewed as part of the ongoing investigation.
