Two Vietnamese women contract Zika virus, first in Vietnam
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Monday added Fiji to its list of countries and territories where the Zika virus is actively spreading.

It’s important for those who are in the infected area to wear protection especially during the day because it has been discovered that mosquitoes which spread Zika are “aggressive daytime biters”. IL has reports nine residents have caught Zika while traveling, including at least two pregnant women.
“I want to emphasize that this is not an exact science”, Denise Jamieson, a clinical obstetrician on the team leading the CDC’s Zika response, told the Washington Post.
Throughout all the Zika-related confusion, researchers have also been working to find a vaccine for the virus.
On March 8, the Australian citizen showed symptoms of Zika infection, including fever, rash, headache, muscle aches, conjunctivitis, nausea. But the fact of the matter is that the majority of those who are infected do not demonstrate any outward signs of illness. “Those who do [have symptoms] usually have a fever first and then a rash on the skin”. Brito spoke with a handful of patients, outreach workers and employees as part of a statewide informational #ZapZika campaign, and the state health department’s first stop in South Jersey.
Male Olympians and men travelling to countries where the Zika virus is actively transmitted have been advised to practise safe sex for three to six months once back in New Zealand.
31% of people polled thought that you could get the virus from a cough or a sneeze.
Still, the latest figures raise hopes that the virus, which scientists believe is linked to birth defects and the potentially deadly neurological disorder known as Guillain-Barré syndrome, may not produce as many infections as initially feared. “It’s very important for pregnant women to know this stuff”. The Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and American Samoa already are experiencing active Zika transmission.
We’re seeing it all over the news; numbers of brain damaged babies being born to zika infected parents are ever on the rise. As mosquito season starts in states where the Aedes mosquito lives, it’s possible for Zika to spread in those areas-we’re talking about how to limit that possibility at the Zika Action Plan Summit. These maps include areas where mosquitoes are or have been previously found. Maps are not meant to represent risk for spread of disease.

Those typical symptoms last about a week before they’re gone.
