There was no victor of last night’s bumper €9.7 million Lotto jackpot as the prize rolls over with Wednesday’s draw heading for €10 million.

In the hours leading up to the draw, National Lottery tweeted that “Our website is running slower than normal due to unprecedented demand”.

Millions of tickets are thought to have been sold.

Camelot has confirmed two ticketholders have matched all six numbers in tonight’s Lotto draw, and will share the £66m jackpot.

A National Lottery spokesman said: “What an incredible way to start off the new year!”

26, 27, 46, 47, 52, 58 with bonus ball 48.

Had nobody won the jackpot, the fund would have been shared between players who matched five numbers and the bonus ball. If no single ticket had turned up the full six numbers, it would have rolled down to the next closest ticket – one matching five main numbers and the bonus ball.

The 259 tickets which matched five main numbers each win £1,309 while 17,695 matched four numbers to win £123. There was a £25 prize for the 418,225 players who matched three numbers.

The prize pot was the lottery’s biggest ever after consecutive rollovers, and new rules would have triggered a massive payout even if there were no outright victor.

The previous biggest British national lottery jackpot was 22.6 million pounds more than 20 years ago.

British TV presenter Noel Edmonds pushed the button for the lottery draw, more than two decades after presenting the first National Lottery show in November 1994, the report said.

On Wednesday, the prize was £50.4 million – and tonight stands at £57.8 million. The company said it had expected to sell at least 400 tickets per second online and in shops in the hours before sales stopped last night.
