Slight problem: In terms of character and personality traits, Bailey, Destiny, Fluke and a handful of supporting fish and mammals aren’t all that distinct from one another. Since we never really know where she came from, writer director Stanton decides to follow the same formula as the previous film to identify Dory’s origin.

It’s hard to believe that “Finding Nemo” was released 13 years ago.
As in Finding Nemo, the undersea animation is gorgeous and the humour is kid-friendly with an undercurrent of adult smarts.
For movie times and local listings in your area, you can visit Fandango’s website. “Finding Dory” introduces us to those loving parents (Diane Keaton and Eugene Levy) in flashback, then returns us to a present where Nemo, Marlon, and Dory make a de facto family, rocked by a sudden memory of her folks that prompts another ocean-spanning reunion mission. I have no doubt you will not agree with everything, so let me hear it in the comments section!
The new movie does a great job, just like Nemo, of creating a world teeming with aquatic creatures-although we meet a lot of them not under the sea, but inside a marine institute, which is where Dory, Nemo and Marlin eventually come to the surface.
Last time, it was the orange clownfish Nemo who had to be found. But it’s more “The Good Dinosaur” and less “Inside Out”- fun and attractive to look at, but not quite as deep as some of Pixar’s best work. You can tell she was having the time of her life and she should be proud of her performance.
Now Marlin, who hurts Dory’s feelings and disappoints Nemo with a flippant remark, feels obligated to help Dory in her quest. And there’s also Sigourney Weaver, making a terrific voice-only cameo as herself. Following the same backstory as the romantic comedy “Just Friends”, the film links two characters who went to high school together – one was overweight and the other was popular.
As for Dory’s short-term memory loss, of course we’re not getting a realistic representation of how someone battling such a condition would navigate the world. The freshness is mostly gone, you might say, like three-day-old fish in a dusty market stall. Finding Dory opened in theaters today across the United States.
This is the ideal movie for family outings on the public holiday and any time thereafter; it is guaranteed to chase away the winter chills with an unforgettable story.

I suspect that the octopus will become a hot toy this summer, as will the toddler version of Dory, which is one of the cutest animated characters I’ve ever seen in film. The sequel repeats this philosophy, aside from one scary squid creature that does unabashedly want to eat Nemo (the sequence sticks out like a sore tentacle).
